Project Overview

Describe the project you’d like SMCF to support. Explain what you hope to accomplish, who will benefit, and how the funds will be used. Be as specific as possible. We love learning about creative, hands-on ideas that make a real difference.

Your project must begin within 30 days of receiving grant funds.
Final report due within 30 days of project completion.
Here is your opportunity to put your project in context.
Please describe who you serve and where the work takes place. This helps us understand how your project connects to specific communities across San Miguel and the surrounding area.
How will you know this project is working? Your metrics can be simple and appropriate to your stage. These may be hard measures (such as number of people served, workshops held, or resources delivered) or softer signals (such as changes in participation, confidence, skills, or community engagement). The goal is to show what will change and how you will notice it.
Are you collaborating with an SMCF Trusted Community Partner?
We value collaboration across San Miguel’s nonprofit community. If your project involves partners, please share how you’re working together to expand impact. Note: Each project may only have one lead organization.
If you are collaborating with an SMCF Trusted Community Partner, please confirm they are current for this year. Partners must be listed in our directory. If you’re unsure, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help.
If available, please upload photos that help illustrate your work, community, or proposed project. Strong visuals bring your proposal to life and help reviewers better understand your impact.

Project Budget

Help us understand your project's scope and how SMCF funds would be used. We want to ensure that your project is both achievable and sustainable.

For first-time applicants, SMCF typically awards project grants in the range of approximately $30,000–$170,000 MXN, depending on project scope, urgency, and available funds. SMCF funds may cover only direct project costs (not salaries, transportation, or utilities).
List only the direct costs needed to complete your proposed project. Break expenses into clear categories (e.g., materials, personnel, transportation, venue, communications), show estimated amounts for each line item, and include a total. Be realistic and specific. If other funding sources are contributing, note them separately. Your budget should clearly show how SMCF funds will be used and how they support your stated activities and outcomes.

Matching Grants

We strongly encourage applicants to secure matching funds from other donors, partners, or earned revenue. Matching support demonstrates community investment, strengthens your proposal, and increases the impact of SMCF’s contribution.

Have you secured a Matching Grant?
If you are listing matching funds, please upload a signed letter of commitment from the funder confirming the amount pledged, as well as any conditions. This helps verify support and strengthens your proposal.
